Salomaa Group Case Study

The ability to focus is the foundation for creativity – This is how Salomaa Group’s creative minds became Focus Tigers.

Who

Salomaa is the largest Finnish marketing and communications group, comprising following companies: Dagmar, SEK, Kaski Agency, Quru, RADLY and Salomaa Yhtiöt.

Why Focus Tiger

Operating in a fast-paced industry, the creative minds of Salomaa Group face continuous interruptions from both customers and internal channels. Ad hoc tasks and the necessity to respond to customers quickly pose challenges to focus.

Yet, concentration is the core skill of creative and quality work highly valued by the Salomaa Group.

Improving focus, productivity, and well-being became a priority for Salomaa Group, making them choose the neuroscience-based Focus Tiger program for improving focus on both individual and organizational levels.

Challenges

  • Constant multitasking and high stress
  • The need to be available to customers and colleagues
  • Lack of focus time even though high-quality work demands it

Recognizing the need for change, Salomaa Group wanted to focus on brain health and find better ways to work sustainably.

What we did

Salomaa Group started the six-week Focus Tiger online program for improving concentration. In addition, Focus Tiger participants were divided into smaller groups for group coaching sessions led by Silta Education’s Focus Coaches.

In a nutshell, in the Focus Tiger Program Salomaa Group’s brain workers grow from a Tiger Cub into a Focus Tiger. They learned the practical tools and strategies to

  • Improve the skill to focus and manage distractions
  • Build smart habits to improve focus points on a daily basis
  • Reduce multitasking and find a healthy tech-life balance
  • Manage stress and recovery

Through 10-minute daily learning sessions and the implementation of neuroscience-based Focus Tiger tools, participants learned how to impact brain chemistry and improve cognitive performance, e.g. through

  • taking regular brain breaks
  • getting daylight in the morning
  • improving sleep and increasing the number of daily steps
  • managing wandering thoughts during focus work
  • reducing stress in minutes
  • not multitasking in meetings
