How Nitor Improved Focus and Productivity with our Neuroscience-Based Tools

In today’s fast-paced knowledge work, focus is hard to maintain, but more valuable than ever. In this case study, we share how our client Nitor explored a new approach to building sustainable focus and boosting productivity – together with us.

Who

Nitor is a Finnish digital engineering company that helps its customers build sustainable and agile digital strategies. Founded in 2007, Nitor is one of Finland’s fastest-growing software companies. As a community of experts working in a fast-paced environment, Nitor is deeply invested in supporting its people’s ability to focus, perform at their best, and maintain a balanced work-life rhythm.

Challenges

Before joining the Focus Tiger program, Nitoreans faced many of the common challenges in the knowledge work sector:

  • Digital distractions, fragmented workdays and interruptions make long-term focus difficult
  • Constant task switching reduces productivity and creates a feeling that nothing gets done properly
  • Increasing stress and mental strain

Nitoreans joined Focus Tiger to develop better focus habits and manage productivity in the face of daily demands.

What we did

Nitor made the six-week Focus Tiger program available to all employees. The program included daily 10-minute focus exercises and three group meetings where participants could reflect on their progress.

The neuroscience-based Focus Tiger program offered participants practical tools for

  • building daily routines that boost focus and productivity
  • reducing distractions
  • clarifying daily goals
  • recovery and relaxation

Results

After participating in the program, Nitoreans noticed significant improvements in their focus, productivity and well-being:

  • 75 % consciously reduced multitasking
  • 67 % gained up to an extra hour of productive work time each day
  • Over 50 % felt a stronger sense of achievement

With the help of Focus Tiger program participants learned that replacing short-term dopamine hits with habits such as meditation and reading is essential for longtime focus and well-being. The program was beneficial for individual participants as well as the entire work community: individuals learned effective tools from the daily focus exercises whereas in the group meetings Nitoreans could share experiences and discuss how Nitor’s work environment could become more focus-oriented.

Feedback

“The program equipped me with tools to clarify what’s important and what’s not. At work, I started making weekly goal lists to define what short-term goals I set for myself. Breaking down tasks into smaller sections by setting daily goals helps kickstart large projects more effectively. I also cut down on social media significantly in my free time, and my interest in such content quickly waned.”

– Suvi Purontaus, Senior Enterprise Coach

With the help of Focus Tiger’s tools, Nitoreans are motivated to continue shaping a more sustainable and focused work environment. The aim is a workplace where experts can concentrate on what matters, perform at their best, and care for their well-being. A great insight was that building focus is a team effort: real improvements happen when a motivated team is committed to making lasting changes.
